MATERIAL HANDLER

GODERICH MANUFACTURING PLANT

Job Summary

The Material Handler will primarily be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, and material handling in yard and plant. This position will keep equipment and work area clean and orderly. This position is best suited to energetic individuals, able to work in fast paced environment with high productivity.

Job Duties

  • Safe handling of materials with telehandler and forklift or other material handling equipment.
  • Loading/unloading of incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify shipments against associated paperwork. Report discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • Move materials to and from loading areas, delivery trucks, storage, and manufacturing areas.
  • Identify and label materials and record their locations to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Inventory, stock control, random cycle counting.
  • Experience with inventory management systems (an asset)
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective and courteous manner with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Assist other coworkers as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math and record-keeping abilities.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to safely operate various material handling tools and equipment (telehandlers, forklift etc.).
  • 1-5 years’ experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and to follow instructions (English) working independently, with high accuracy and with little guidance or direct supervision.
  • Maintain necessary education/licenses/certifications to safely operate warehouse equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Energetic individuals, able to work in fast paced environment with high productivity.

Work Conditions

  • Standing for up to 10 hours per day and other physically demanding conditions.
  • Frequent movement (lifting up to 60lbs, carrying, bending, turning and pulling).
  • The correct use of Personal Protective Equipment as per company standards (safety glasses, gloves and steel-toed CSA certified boots).
  • Exposure to various weather conditions (cold/hot/wind/rain/snow/ice).

Hours of Work

  • Weekdays (4 shifts – 6:00am – 4:30pm) Subject to change based on business needs.
  • Willingness to work extended hours of work as necessary to ensure deadlines and priorities are met, including overtime and weekends.
