Controller Opportunity
Cooper Douglas is partnering with a rapidly growing brand to identify a Controller to join their dynamic team in Newport Beach. This role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the accounting function and serve as a key partner to leadership as the company continues to scale both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Lead technical accounting areas including memos, complex accounting issues, and proper application of GAAP across transactions
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow, along with management reporting for leadership
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper classification of transactions
- Oversee payroll and employee expense processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Support all tax-related matters by coordinating with external advisors across federal, state, and sales/use tax requirements
- Establish and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and policies to support a growing business
- Act as a key partner to leadership, providing clear insights into financial performance and trends
- Support entity structuring and international expansion initiatives as the business grows
- CPA is required
- Public Accounting Experience highly desired
- 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong technical accounting experience is required
- Prior experience conducting technical accounting research and memos is required
- Strong hands-on experience across general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close
- Proven ability to prepare financial statements and management reporting
- Experience working in multi-entity and/or international environments is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience working with external auditors and tax advisors
- Advanced Excel skills with ability to build reports and models
- Proven track record improving processes and controls in a fast-paced environment
This position is hybrid in Newport Beach, CA. Compensation for this role includes base range of $180-$195K + Bonus & exceptional benefits!
