Controller - Irvine, CA (Hybrid)
Reports to:
CFO
We're partnering with a publicly traded, growth-stage company on a high-visibility Controller search. This is a rare opportunity to join a lean finance team as a trusted partner to the CFO and help build scalable accounting infrastructure. Accounting& Reporting
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close - journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Maintain GL and balance sheet integrity through strong review procedures
- Oversee daily accounting: AP, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and cash
- Handle sales/property tax filings, annual 1099s, and related requirements
- Support and review biweekly payroll
- Supervise and develop the AP function
- Lead preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K and related disclosure schedules
- Manage stock-based compensation accounting and reporting
- Research and implement new accounting pronouncements
- Coordinate with external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting
- Prepare budget-to-actual and variance analyses
- Support management reporting packages and financial modeling
- Improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Build scalable procedures and internal controls to support growth
- Help build out the finance team as the company expands
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public company accounting experience
- Hands-on SEC reporting experience (10-Q, 10-K)
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and month-end close ownership
- Advanced Excel; sharp attention to detail and strong communication
- CPA (or actively pursuing)
- Relevant industry experience a plus
- Background in a pre-revenue, emerging-growth, or public-company environment
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A
- Experience supporting external audits and SOX-related processes
