Western Video Market, Inc. is offering a unique opportunity to an individual with an interest in billing and accounting. Desirable candidates should have background in basic accounting and bookkeeping principles. An interest or background in livestock and agriculture is a plus, but not required. This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience with the second largest video sale company in the country.
This is an in-office position based at WVM Headquarters in Cottonwood, CA.
Western Video Market, Inc. is the second-largest livestock video auction company in the United States, and markets more than 400,000 head of cattle and sheep per year to a national buyer base. Duties and Expectations:This is a full-time position for someone who has demonstrated bookkeeping and invoicing skills. This position serves in a support role primarily to the Controller and Finance Manager for critical bookkeeping functions related to livestock shipments, including, but not limited to:
- Collecting information related to livestock shipments from field reps, developing invoices with a proprietary billing system, and communicating with buyers via e-mail and phone.
- Collecting and filing support documentation for livestock shipments.
- This position may be asked to attend and support clerking functions at video auctions; field general questions from attendees and field reps as necessary; provide assistance to compile summary reports for buyers, field reps and management at the conclusion of a sale.
This position may also have additional responsibilities with video sale catalog and broadcast production, but primary responsibilities will be based in the accounting department. - As expertise is gained in company operations, a successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow into other responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, ag business, accounting or equivalent experience.
- Individual pursuing this position must understand the importance of being a team player in a tight-knit office environment and have good interpersonal skills.
- Be self-motivated, willing to learn, detail oriented, demonstrate conscientious effort towards one's work, and be focused on customer service.
- Demonstrate an understanding of a checks and balances system as it relates to basic accounting principles.
- Proficient in basic Microsoft applications Word, Excel; experience with Access (or other database programs) and/or accounting software a plus.
- Position may require some travel to video sale locations.
- A successful candidate should have an interest and experience in accounting and bookkeeping; however, additional training will be provided for all internal procedures.
Compensation levels will be determined based on experience. A successful candidate will be offered a health, retirement and vacation package.
This position's day-to-day tasks are directed by the Controller and more senior accounting staff, and is supervised by the Chief Operations Officer.
