Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a growing manufacturing team in California. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant with a strong manufacturing background who can manage core accounting activities, support accurate reporting, and provide meaningful analysis to leadership. The position offers broad exposure to cost accounting, month-end close, and operational finance in a collaborative environment where accuracy and initiative are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

- Record incoming payments, manage invoicing activity, and help drive timely collection of outstanding receivables.

- Evaluate customer credit documentation and produce aging reports that support effective monitoring of account balances.

- Complete monthly bank reconciliations, oversee fixed asset records, and maintain accurate supporting schedules.

- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and ensure the general ledger remains complete and reliable.

- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies, including clear explanations of period-to-period fluctuations.

- Partner with audit and operations teams during internal reviews, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities.

- Analyze job cost data, develop variance schedules, and highlight issues requiring further review by management.

- Contribute to annual budget preparation, deliver financial reporting and trend analysis, and recommend process improvements that strengthen accounting efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

- At least five years of accounting experience, including required experience in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

- Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, cost accounting, and financial statement preparation.

- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas and analyze detailed financial data.

- Demonstrated ability to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and interpret complex accounting information.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining close attention to detail.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with employees and leadership across departments.
