Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Escalon, California in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent position. This onsite position works Monday through Friday and focuses on keeping financial records accurate, organized, and current while supporting day-to-day accounting operations. The role will play an important part in reviewing transaction activity, reconciling accounts, and partnering with an external accountant to help maintain reliable financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and update company bookkeeping records in Quick Books Desktop to ensure financial data remains complete and accurate.

- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.

- Review accounts payable entries prepared by other team members to verify invoice accuracy, coding, and supporting documentation before payment processing.

- Prepare accounts payable checks for management approval and signature in accordance with established internal controls.

- Examine accounts receivable transactions, including invoices and posted payments, to confirm accuracy and proper recording.

- Provide an added layer of quality review across AP and AR activity to strengthen accuracy, consistency, and record completeness.

- Assist in compiling financial information and supporting schedules used in the preparation of financial statements.

- Coordinate with the outside accountant on month-end tasks, reporting support, and general accounting follow-up.

- Track banking activity and maintain orderly cash records while reinforcing sound bookkeeping procedures and controls.

Requirements - 2+ years of bookkeeping experience in a business environment.

- Practical, hands-on experience using Quick Books Desktop.

- Solid knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general bookkeeping practices.

- Ability to support financial statement preparation by organizing accurate accounting data and documentation.

- Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy and follow-through.

- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with management and external accounting partners.

- Well-developed organizational and communication skills for handling multiple accounting priorities.
