Turtle Island Restoration Network Executive Assistant Intern
For 38 years, Turtle Island Restoration Network (TIRN) has been a leading advocate for the world's oceans and marine wildlife. Our work is based on science, fueled by people who care, and effective at catalyzing long-lasting positive change that protects the likes of green sea turtles, whale sharks and coho salmon. By working with people and communities we preserve and restore critical habitats like the redwood-forested creek banks of California to the biodiverse waters of Cocos Island.
TIRN is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and creative person to assist and learn from our executive director. The executive director intern will work alongside the executive director, assisting with various tasks: strategic, development (fund-raising), communications, administrative, budgetary, etc. This position is ideal for someone interested in environmental NGO management who wants a survey of the responsibilities and requirements of such a position.
The position can be based in Olema, California, and free intern housing is available. This position can also be remote for qualified candidates. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and this position will be open until filled.
Time commitment:
- July 15 thru year end 2026 30 hours a week minimum
- $100.00 / month stipend.
- Possibility of intern housing if you can be in the West Marin, California, area
- Academic Credit Available.
Qualifications and skills desired:
- Ability to use PC or Mac and phone for direct and internet communications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid math skills, including understanding of basic accounting principles and proficiency with Excel and/or google sheets.
- Ability to work independently and organize oneself.
- Hard worker, disciplined, ability to work on set/agreed priorities.
- High standards for accuracy and completeness; attention to detail.
- Knowledge and experience with Google Workspace a plus.
- Strong interest in nature and the environment.
Duties and responsibilities may include the following:
- Meet regularly with executive director
- Assist with administrative and budgetary tasks.
- Review and generate strategy and HR documents.
- Generate or review best management practices and other policy documents.
- Various other tasks as they arise.
