Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare electrical construction projects. This position works closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership to develop winning bids while ensuring project profitability and successful execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting
- Fire alarm
- Low-voltage systems
- Site electrical work
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare detailed labor, material, and equipment, estimates.
- Analyze project scope and identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Develop budget estimates, negotiated proposals, and competitive bid submissions.
- Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- Assist project teams during preconstruction and project startup.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners.
Required
- 3+ years of electrical estimating experience or equivalent electrical construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
- Experience using estimating software such as:
- Accubid
- Con Est
- Bluebeam
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Electrician background.
- Commercial and industrial construction experience.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
