General Labourer; Lakeshore

Position Summary

The General Labourer is responsible for supporting construction operations through demolition activities, material handling, site preparation, loading and unloading materials, site cleanup, and assisting skilled tradespeople. The Labourer plays a key role in maintaining a safe, productive, and organized job site.

• Perform demolition work including removal of drywall, ceilings, flooring, doors, windows, framing, millwork, and other building materials as directed.
• Safely remove, sort, and dispose of demolition debris.
• Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and delivery vehicles.
• Move materials throughout the job site manually or using appropriate equipment.
• Assist tradespersons, lead hands, and site supervisors with daily construction activities.
• Prepare and clean work areas before, during, and after construction activities.
• Maintain site housekeeping and ensure walkways and work areas remain clean and free of hazards.
• Set up and dismantle temporary barriers, hoarding, dust protection, and site protection measures.
• Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively.
• Assist with material deliveries and verify quantities received.
• Participate in site safety meetings and comply with all health and safety requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or site concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist with loading waste bins and organizing disposal of construction debris.
• Support project activities as required to maintain schedule and productivity.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labour for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable working around construction equipment, demolition activities, dust, and noise.

• Previous construction or demolition experience is an asset.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools.
• Solid work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence is an asset.
• Working at Heights certification is an asset.
• WHMIS training is an asset.
• Knowledge of construction site safety practices is preferred.

Pay: $17.20-$24.06 per hour
