Lead Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee the successful field execution of complex commercial construction projects throughout Southern California. This leadership role is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities from project startup through closeout while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading ground-up and renovation projects within the education and public sector, including K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and municipal/public works facilities. This individual will serve as the primary field leader, mentor project teams, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, inspectors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all field operations for multiple or highly complex commercial construction projects
  • Develop and execute project-specific site logistics, sequencing, and construction plans
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules while driving milestone completion
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and field personnel
  • Ensure compliance with all project plans, specifications, building codes, and contract requirements
  • Maintain a safe work environment through implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and jobsite audits
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to monitor budgets, schedules, procurement, and project risks
  • Review construction documents and proactively identify constructability issues and solutions
  • Manage quality control processes and ensure work meets company and owner expectations
  • Lead Owner, Architect, and Subcontractor meetings
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Manage project documentation including daily reports, RFIs, punch lists, and closeout documentation
  • Drive project completion while maintaining exceptional client satisfaction
  • Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, and field staff
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects
  • Minimum 5 years leading large-scale education, higher education, or public works projects
  • Proven experience managing projects ranging from $25 million to $150+ million
  • Strong understanding of public contracting procedures including:
    • Design-Bid-Build
    • Design-Build
    • Lease-Leaseback (preferred)
    • CM Multi-Prime (preferred)
  • Experience coordinating occupied campus renovations and phased construct
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil drawings
  • Excellent scheduling knowledge using CPM scheduling principles
  • Experience utilizing Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other construction management software
  • Strong knowledge of California building codes, DSA requirements, and public agency construction standards
  • OSHA 30 certification required
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Valid California driver's license
