About the Role

Merk Construction Corporation is seeking a Project Manager to manage assigned construction projects from planning and preconstruction through construction, closeout, and warranty. This is an experienced project management role for someone who can operate with limited day-to-day oversight while working closely with senior project leadership, field teams, clients, subcontractors, consultants, public agencies, and community partners. The Project Manager is responsible for helping deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and in a way that supports client trust, project quality, and company performance.

This role serves as the administrative lead for assigned projects and is the primary person responsible for project documentation, communication, scheduling, budgeting, procurement coordination, subcontractor coordination, compliance support, and closeout.

Communication is central to this position. The successful candidate must communicate clearly, respectfully, and promptly with clients, field teams, subcontractors, consultants, public agencies, community stakeholders, and company leadership. Client transparency, follow-through, responsiveness, and trust-building are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned construction projects in coordination with senior project leadership, field supervisors, superintendents, crews, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, regulators, permitting agencies, clients, etc.
  • Maintain project files, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, schedules, budgets, meeting records, correspondence, submittals, RFIs, change orders, closeout documents, and other related records.
  • Support project planning, proposal development, preconstruction coordination, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, construction administration, closeout, and warranty activities.
  • Track project budgets, commitments, cost reports, change orders, invoices, billing, contingency usage, and financial performance.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestone dates, procurement lead times, field progress, and potential delays.
  • Communicate project status, schedule impacts, budget issues, risks, changes, decisions, and next steps clearly and respectfully.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, meeting notes, project updates, progress reports, action-item lists, client correspondence, and internal summaries.
  • Support contract administration, subcontractor coordination, vendor coordination, procurement tracking, and change order processing.
  • Assist with client, Tribal, federal, state, local, funding, procurement, permitting, safety, environmental, and reporting requirements as applicable.
  • Coordinate with field teams to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, respect, safety, quality, and service to clients and communities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of progressive construction project management experience, including responsibility for project administration, budgets, schedules, subcontractor coordination, client communication, change management, and closeout.
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, cost control, closeout, and project documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate transparently and respectfully with clients, public agencies, community stakeholders, field teams, subcontractors, consultants, and company leadership.
  • Ability to manage assigned work independently, prioritize competing demands, identify risks, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and willingness to follow, promote, and help enforce company policies and applicable safety requirements.
  • Ability to use project management, scheduling, document control, spreadsheet, email, and construction administration software.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and proof of insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public-sector, federally funded, grant-funded, utility, infrastructure, civil, vertical construction, broadband, water/wastewater, transportation, housing, community facilities, or Tribal projects.
  • Experience working with Tribal governments, Tribal enterprises, public agencies, community infrastructure partners, or multi-stakeholder project environments.
