This is a promotional/transfer opportunity for full time employees of Mariposa County. Mariposa County's Public Works Department is hiring a Maintenance and Construction Supervisor
- Fuels Reduction and Forestry Crew. Only online applications will be accepted.
To coordinate, supervise and participate in the work of crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, culverts and related structures in assigned geographical area; may supervise a brushing crew engaged in the maintenance, care, removal of trees along roadways and right-of-ways; to order and maintain adequate inventory of parts, materials and supplies; to maintain accurate logs, records and reports;
and to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Supervision received from the Road Superintendent, Assistant Director of Public Works – Operations, and Public Works Director. Direct supervision over subordinate maintenance workers.
Examples of essential functions include coordinating, supervising and participating in the construction, maintenance and repair of roads and related structures. Training, supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel; conducting safety meetings; ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures; inspecting job sites; preparing field estimates; supervising road construction, maintenance and repair work; performing concrete work; inspecting roads, pipes and culverts;
clearing brush, debris, rocks and trees; removing animal carcasses; responding to emergency situations; operating and maintaining equipment; maintaining records and reports; coordinating division activities; and contacting utility companies, business and property owners.
Minimum qualifications include four years of experience in the maintenance and construction of roads, at least one year in a lead capacity; a high school diploma or GED equivalent; possession of a valid California Class "A" driver's license; and the ability to attach a copy of the Class 'A' driver's license to the application.
