Salary Range: $34.62 / Hourly ( starting salary )
We are seeking a dependable, community-minded Customer Service Representative to join our public utilities team. In this role, you will be a point of contact for our residential and commercial water utility customers. You will assist residents with account setups, billing inquiries, service requests, and emergency water service reports, ensuring our community receives reliable and friendly support.
Key Responsibilities- Account Management:
Process new water service applications, transfers, cancellations, and update customer account details in the utility billing system. - Billing & Payments:
Answer customer questions regarding water bills, consumption rates, and payment history; accurately process payments and establish payment arrangements. - Technical Support Dispatch:
Create and dispatch work orders for field technicians regarding water meter reads, leak checks, service connections, and high-water usage alerts. - Inquiry Resolution:
Address customer concerns regarding water quality, service interruptions, or billing discrepancies calmly and professionally. - Emergency Response Coordination:
Efficiently route urgent calls regarding water main breaks or localized outages to the emergency field crews.
- Experience:
Experience in customer service, call center, or administrative support (experience in utilities, public works, or municipal services is highly preferred). - Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with standard office software (MS Office) and the ability to quickly learn utility billing and database systems. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on conflict resolution and patience. - Local Knowledge:
Familiarity with the mountain communities and water conservation practices is a plus.
