Dental Assistant

GLC Government Services is seeking a dedicated and qualified Dental Assistants to support our government contract at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Herlong, California
.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Dental Assistant looking to provide meaningful dental care in a professional, structured environment while supporting the healthcare needs of a federal facility.

• Shift is: 6:30 a.m.
  
  - 3:00 p.m.
• 40 hours per week

• Specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.
• Training in dental radiology and radiology safety
  .
• Current CPR certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
• Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills.

The Dental Assistant will work closely with the Dental Officer and support a variety of dental services, including restorative dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations, and emergency care.

Responsibilities include:

• Retrieve patient records and escort patients to the appropriate dental specialty area.
• Seat and prepare patients for treatment by the Dental Officer.
• Prepare dental instruments, materials, medications, and other necessary supplies.
• Assist during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, irrigating the oral cavity, and operating the aspirator.
• Observe patient responses during treatment and assist with patient dismissal and follow-up instructions.
• Schedule and provide instructions for subsequent dental appointments.
• Accurately document dental treatment in both electronic and paper records.
• Prepare and sanitize treatment rooms between patients.
• Assist with emergency dental cases.
• Provide dental health education and patient instructions.
• Perform dental prophylaxis, as permitted for an RDA.
• Assist with dental screening examinations and periodontal procedures.
• Perform dental and periodontal charting.
• Prepare, place, and remove dental packs.
• Place temporary fillings, as permitted for an RDA.
• Place and remove rubber dams.
• Maintain dental equipment and perform daily equipment inspections.
• Clean, sharpen, and sterilize dental instruments.
• Identify and report defective equipment and take appropriate corrective action when authorized.
• Apply prescribed medications and anti-cariogenic agents as directed by the Dental Officer.
• Assist with procedures related to complete and removable partial denture fabrication and repair.
• Take standard and digital dental radiographs, including periapical, occlusal, lateral, jaw, TMJ, panoramic, cephalometric, and transcranial images as applicable.
• Correctly position patients and radiographic equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
• Adjust radiation intensity appropriately to minimize patient exposure.
• Process and save digital radiographs in the appropriate patient medical record.
• Perform quality assurance procedures on radiographic and developing equipment and safelight systems.
• Maintain proper infection-control procedures during radiographic and clinical procedures.
• Properly sterilize and handle contaminated biological waste in accordance with established protocols.
• Take primary dental impressions and pour casts.
• Select appropriate tooth shades for composite restorations and dentures.
• Follow specific directions from the Dental Officer for unusual or emergency treatment situations.
