  • Key Responsibilities of the Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service:

    Service Leadership and Management:

    • Plan, develop, coordinate, direct, and evaluate the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service for both outpatients and inpatients at VA Nor Cal.
    • Perform wide-ranging and high-level management functions for the medical center or at the VISN level by participating in planning and oversight boards, councils, and committees.

    Program Development and Maintenance:

    • Develop and maintain ongoing programs in the areas of professional peer reviews, organizational improvement, continuing education, scope of practice, clinical privileging, and other quality improvement activities.

    Direct Patient Care:

    • Provide direct health care to Veterans within the incumbent's area of expertise.

    Policy Implementation and Compliance:

    • Hold overall responsibility and accountability for the implementation and maintenance of new and established policies.
    • Provide overall direction in the continuous operation of the service line.
