Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Coordinator for Student Organizations strengthens the student organization experience by coordinating recognition processes, supporting policy compliance, guiding event planning, and facilitating advisor engagement. It enhances campus involvement through training, communication, and resource development while ensuring consistent standards, fostering community, and supporting signature programs that promote meaningful student participation.
* Oversees the university recognition process for student organizations.
* Processes and approves registration applications for returning organizations, fraternity and sorority organizations, and honors organizations, by conducting eligibility checks, reviewing constitutions, verifying the completion of required trainings, and the submission of required documentation.
* Interprets and applies CSU Systemwide, University, and department policy, procedures, and guidelines when advising students, student organizations, and advisors on recognition procedures and student organization-sponsored events.
* Reviews programs, events, and activities for consistent application of risk management standards.
* Plans the fall and spring Meet the Clubs and the Student Organization Leadership Awards ceremony.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
* Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field. Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution, where such are job-related, is preferred.
* Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience, including one year in student affairs, is preferred.
* A Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
* Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Demonstrated understanding of student organization structures, recognition processes, and compliance requirements, including federal, state, CSU, and campus policies. Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations while assessing eligibility, reviewing constitutions, and ensuring adherence to risk management and institutional standards.
* Skill in coordinating multifaceted programs such as Meet the Clubs, leadership awards, and department-sponsored events. Ability to collaborate across departments, support co-curricular engagement opportunities, and facilitate organization involvement in major campus initiatives.
* Proficiency with tools such as Anthology Engage, or similar platforms to create forms, update registration processes, track attendance, administer surveys, manage data, and process organizational requests. Ability to maintain advisor resources and update digital platforms supporting student organization operations.
* Capacity to guide students, organization officers, advisors, and student staff; offer clear policy-based advising; develop training; and maintain ongoing communication. Ability to foster inclusive organizational development, support advisor outreach, and contribute to the mission of the Matador Involvement Center.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

* Classification: 3084 / Student Services Professional III / 1
* The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5540 - $5765 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5540 - $7893 per month.
* HOURS:
Full Time; 40 hours per week;
Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
* This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
* The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
