Job Summary

Steamboat Springs School District is seeking highly qualified Speech‑Language Pathologists to join our Special Service Providers team for the 2026‑2027 school year. Ideal candidates will have experience providing SLP services to identified students at all PK‑12 levels and must have or be able to secure the Colorado Department of Education Special Services SSP license. SSSD is consistently awarded “Accredited with Distinction” by the Colorado Department of Education and ranked as a top school district.

Salary Information

SSSD is seeking a full‑time candidate, preferably, working a 185‑day school year. Part‑time (.5 FTE) status may be considered depending on experience; however, full‑time is strongly preferred. Placement is based on a maximum of 9 years of experience, verified full‑time SLP services (not temp/substitute) experience, completed licensure, and education. Salary range: $62,031.00 – $84,264.00 (PhD). See the salary schedule here per the current 2025‑2026 special service provider salary schedule.

Salary could be adjusted based on the salary schedule for 2026/27.

Position Summary

A Speech‑Language Pathologist provides services for school‑aged children with communication disorders that adversely affect children’s educational performance. The SLP may work at various school buildings as assigned.

Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the districts to which assigned.
  • Participate in IEP meetings.
  • Provide services for children with difficulties in the areas of language, voice, fluency, and articulation.
  • Provide screenings for students with possible speech and language deficits impacting their access to the general curriculum.
  • Assess children referred for Special Education evaluation.
  • Complete written evaluations with specific goals and objectives for each student identified with speech/language needs.
  • Provide direct and consultative services to students identified with speech/language needs.
  • Program planning and implementation.
  • Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Communicate with parents regarding their children's speech/language program.
  • Supervision of Speech‑Language Pathologist Assistants, Graduate students, and Clinical Fellowships as assigned.
  • Implement services based on the MTSS model.
  • Provide education, assistance, and monitoring of augmentative communication devices.
  • Collect data on students' progress.
  • Able to work with students at various grade levels; may need to travel to other schools as needed or assigned caseloads.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Special Service Providers Colorado Licensure, endorsement of Speech Language Pathologist (PK12) through the Colorado Department of Education
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with administrators, teachers, students, families, and community members.
  • Ability to conduct studies, prepare reports, and make oral presentations.
  • Computer knowledge is required in computer‑related subjects, and computer literacy is preferred for other content areas.
  • Ability to maintain individual student records and class files.
  • Ability to compile statistics for research and reports.
  • Ability to discipline students in keeping with school and district procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence recommended.
