Bedford Public Schools:
Extended School Year Summer Program, Special Education Teachers – Moderate Disabilities, 7/6/26‑7/30/26.
Special Education Teachers will prepare and instruct students in small groups and individualized work for reading and math, following IEP goals.
Responsibilities- Write IEP goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate knowledge of MA DESE principles, standards, and strategies.
- Be familiar with NAEYC standards for preschool positions.
- Guide learning toward district and school curriculum goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Plan instruction based on explicit, measurable goals.
- Create learning experiences that develop abilities and require application of thinking and functional skills.
- Employ instructional strategies that accommodate individual learning styles and performance levels.
- Assess student learning regularly using formative assessment to measure development.
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide progress reports as required.
- Create an engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing classroom environment.
- Communicate student progress to parents.
- Provide written assessments, referrals, and evaluations for special‑needs students and participate in IEP meetings.
- Model learning and behavior aligned with student expectations.
- Attend staff/team meetings and serve on committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instruction.
- Build positive relationships with students supporting academic, functional, and social development.
- Create a learning environment appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Guide learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives.
- Employ suitable instructional methods and materials.
- Assess accomplishments regularly and provide timely progress reports.
- Master’s degree preferred in Special Education.
- Experience with ABA required.
- Appropriate Massachusetts licensure.
Per BEA and BPS contract.
