The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking a highly qualified School Psychologist to join our Special Service Providers team for the school year.
Salary / Schedule InformationFull‑time position (Part‑time hours may be considered),
Work schedule:
185 days school year.
Placement based on a maximum of 9 years full‑time School Psychologist experience. Salary ranges from $62,031.00 to $84,264.00 (PhD).

- Candidate must secure Colorado Department of Education Special Services Providers license by August 2026.
- May consider a candidate in a verified School Psychologist university program qualifying for Colorado Department of Education TEE authorization.
The School Psychologist provides a range of services to students demonstrating difficulties with learning, academic achievement, social/emotional functioning, and behavior. The position serves as a psycho‑educational service provider involved in proactive, preventative activities and responsive actions. The Psychologist functions as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to determine eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and ongoing progress.
Professional Essential Responsibilities- Perform focused cognitive, social/emotional/behavioral, and functional behavior assessments to maximize student achievement.
- Interpret assessment data to inform instruction and intervention.
- Assist in development and implementation of individualized behavior management plans.
- Provide school‑based, multi‑tiered counseling and social/emotional/behavior interventions to individuals, groups, and parents.
- Consult with staff on classroom and school‑wide behavior approaches and positive behavior supports.
- Engage in safety implementation, prevention, assessment, and crisis intervention for at‑risk students.
- Consult on mental health, behavior, and academic achievement; participate in MTSS teams.
- Coordinate referrals to external mental health and social support agencies.
- Participate in manifestation determination hearings and provide documentation for IEP meetings.
- Prepare written reports following state guidelines promptly.
- Complete functional behavior assessments as needed.
- Disseminate mental health information related to student needs.
- Act as Special Education Director designee when necessary.
- Adhere to ethical standards, regulations, and laws governing special education.
- Participate in professional development and apply clinical research to enhance services.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctoral degree in School Psychology or Master’s with 60 semester hours of school psychology coursework, 1200 hours internship (600 in schools), completion of an approved preparedness program and practicum, and passing the PRAXIS exam.
- SSP License as a School Psychologist by the Colorado Department of Education.
- Preferred experience in the school setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with administrators, teachers, students, families, and community members.
- Ability to conduct studies, prepare reports, and make oral presentations.
- Computer knowledge required; computer literacy preferred.
- Ability to maintain individual student records and class files.
- Ability to compile statistics for research and reports.
- Ability to discipline students per school and district procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Able to drive between schools as assigned.
