Based on education BASIC FUNCTION Under general supervision, teaches one or more classes in subject matter of expertise and or electives to students in grades 7 through 12, assists in other school programs as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
• Teaches knowledge and skills in subject area to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
• Teaches the State Standards.
• Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
• Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
• Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
• Communicates with parents through a variety to means.
• Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
• Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student progress and interpret the school program.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and working time.
