Job Summary: The Instructor is responsible for implementing and documenting the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process to support maintenance and technical training programs. This role focuses on developing and delivering classroom and laboratory instruction while ensuring training effectiveness through evaluation, testing, and performance monitoring. The instructor supports nuclear maintenance training initiatives by analyzing subject matter, designing instructional materials, developing job performance measures (JPMs), and delivering structured learning programs.
The position also promotes safety culture, reinforces human performance tools, and contributes to plant operational readiness and workforce development. This position operates on an alternating 4/10 work schedule and requires onsite presence in Avila Beach, California for the duration of the assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze subject material for new and revised training programs
- Use the design process to determine job performance measures (JPMs), establish training settings, sequence training objectives, and identify test items from objectives
- Develop lessons for classroom and laboratory environments
- Create JPM performance evaluations and written test questions
- Execute developed training by preparing instructional materials and verifying training resources and facilities
- Evaluate training effectiveness through data collection, test results, feedback, and post-training evaluations
- Promote industrial safety by modeling and reinforcing safety expectations in classrooms and laboratories
- Apply human performance tools and provide coaching to reinforce safety behaviors
- Incorporate ALARA principles to minimize exposure and contamination in training materials and discussions
- Encourage employee involvement in the training process
- Maintain classroom and laboratory housekeeping standards
- Support organizational effectiveness through training participation and workforce engagement
- Support outage performance when requested and approved by management
- Obtain and maintain instructor qualifications, certifications, and technical proficiency
- Perform management observations in training environments and plant settings
- Perform emergency response organization duties when required
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of maintenance experience at a nuclear maintenance or training department OR
- 5+ years of maintenance or training experience from another organization
- Strong technical knowledge related to maintenance operations and training implementation
- Experience supporting or implementing training development processes
Nice-to-Have
Experience:
- Electrical maintenance experience in nuclear or power generation environments
- Experience developing or delivering training in an adult learning environment
- Demonstrated experience in instructional development and training delivery
- Familiarity with OJT/TPE process implementation
- Experience working within large industrial or power generation facilities
Required Skills:
- Nuclear maintenance electrical technical expertise
- Training development using the ADDIE process
- Strong presentation and instructional delivery skills
