Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Prepare students for post‑secondary readiness through CTE activities and first‑hand industry experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsement for the subject and level assigned or approved alternative certification program
- ESL certification (preferred)
- Must have passed a satisfactory background check (non‑refundable fee approximately $50 paid by employee)
- Must be trained to drive district non‑CDL vehicles; safety training will be provided by district
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to research and develop teaching units
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- General knowledge of the industry for your assigned program of study
Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

Instructional Management: Promote improvement of instruction through activities such as:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to federal regulations, Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers to modify curricula for students with special needs (Special Education, 504, Bilingual).
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Use technology to strengthen teaching and learning.
- Implement all safety rules and procedures for your program.
Student Growth and Development: Foster student growth through activities such as:
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement via formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Sponsor outside activities approved by campus principal.
- Prepare students for post‑secondary readiness in their chosen program.
Classroom Management and Organization Improvement: Improve classroom and school environment through activities such as:
- Create a conducive learning environment for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
Communication and Community Relations: Promote positive school/community relations through:
- Act as a positive role model and support district mission.
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers, and support staff through conferences.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development: Participate in:
- National and state‑level organizations to stay abreast of research and best practices.
- Attend professional development opportunities related to designated subject areas.
