Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Services, provide day‑to‑day administration and leadership for assigned instructional programs and services with a commitment to student‑centered learning, collaborating closely with faculty and staff to achieve student success goals and initiatives primarily in the Divisions of Arts & Humanities and Mathematics & Sciences; coordinate with faculty and administration on planning, program development and review, budgeting, and evaluation of faculty and staff;

and coordinate schedule planning and development.

  • Direct implementation and provide leadership for the District's instructional programs and services, including supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff; program development, program review, program assessment, and course scheduling; policy and procedure development; distance education; and classroom facility and equipment planning.
  • Demonstrate and provide leadership in ensuring equitable and culturally responsive instructional services to students.
  • Oversee all library and learning support services, maximizing student support and access.
  • Provide leadership and collaborate closely with faculty for the continuous improvement of instruction through development and assessment of learning outcomes promoting a commitment to equity‑focused student‑centered learning.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with faculty, deans, Academic Affairs staff, and Student Services to innovate and improve within assigned program areas.
  • Participate in internal and external college initiatives as assigned.
  • Participate in college accreditation reports and processes.
  • Oversee and ensure that all faculty recommended for employment meet minimum qualifications or provide evidence of equivalency as defined in the laws, rules, and regulations of the State.
  • Plan and implement class schedules to facilitate student access to a cross‑section of courses throughout the day, evening, and weekend.
  • Receive student and faculty complaints; conduct follow‑up as appropriate following established processes and policies; and ensure that the Vice President is informed of these concerns, as appropriate, in a timely manner.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned academic and support staff.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of policies and procedures for the District.
  • Participate in community activities and represent the college and academic programs to the community and the general public.
  • Oversee planning for classrooms on campus and at off‑site locations.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleges, universities, local school districts, and state, local and federal agencies.
  • Prepare and administer department budgets and authorize expenditures.
  • Adjudicate student appeals and grievances within areas of responsibility.
  • Interpret and comply with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the faculty orientation program for full‑ and part-time faculty, to promote excellence in teaching, assess and support the needs of instructional faculty, and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Handle sensitive and complex employee/employer issues consistently and professionally.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide direction and leadership for assigned full‑time teaching faculty, and assigned classified staff. Participate in the selection of employees.

Education and Experience Minimum
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college.
  • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and online teaching delivery.
  • Demonstrated action in and commitment to inclusive and equity minded practice.
