under the direction of the program administrator, the child care center teacher/director plans and implements curriculum and age-appropriate activities for the population served in the center. The child care center teacher/director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the child care center and may be required to supervisor other child care center teachers, aides, and/or volunteers.

required qualifications:

knowledge of:

• general knowledge of child development and licensing requirements.

• current educational and discipline trends.

ability to:

• pass required physical.

• obtain appropriate child development permit.

• communicate effectively in written and/or oral form with parents, students, and other staff members.

• adjust program activities to meet the changing developmental needs of each child.

• implement discipline procedures when necessary.

• hold informal parent conferences as needed.

desired qualifications:

• possession of a valid child development supervisor permit issued by the california commission on teacher credentialing.

• specific knowledge of child development as it relates to the population served.

• ability to creatively plan activities and work collectively as a team member.
