Emergency Medical Technologies Instructor, Part‑time Adjunct, ESCC Campus – Kern Community College District.
Basic FunctionProvide instruction in Emergency Medical Technologies courses and related responsibilities as required by the department.
Responsibilities- Teach the full range of Emergency Medical Technologies courses.
- Deliver instruction at multiple campus sites, including day, evening, weekend, and large‑class sessions, as well as distance learning using diverse teaching methodologies.
- Participate in student recruitment and the articulation of transfer programs for the Public Services department.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop and revise curriculum.
- Utilize computer and multimedia technology in teaching.
- Engage collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Bachelor’s degree with two years of work experience; or associate’s degree with six years of work experience; or a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Emergency Medical Technology at the California Community College level.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Licensed EMT, Advanced EMT, Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Paramedic licensed in California.
- At least two years of academic or clinical experience in emergency medicine or prehospital care within the last five years.
- Approved by the program director and program clinical coordinator as qualified to teach assigned topics.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an inclusive learning environment.
- Engage with students of diverse skill levels, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.
- Commitment to the California community college mission.
