To apply for  Substitute Teacher position, please fill out this application. It is required to have either a PEL, SUB license (must have Bachelor's degree) or STS (must have 60hrs college credits) license. Directions on how to obtain a SUB or STS (short term sub) license can be found on the  website or by contacting the Peoria Regional Office of Education.

Your new hire paperwork will be emailed to you within approximately 48 hours after submitting this application. Substitute teacher rate is $18.67/hr if working 6 hours or less or $140/full day if over 6hrs for short term assignment.

• State of Illinois Substitute Teacher License (SUB) Short Term Substitute License (STS) or PEL License
• Must have Bachelor's degree for a PEL license
• Must have 60hrs college credits for a STS license

In the absence of the full-time classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages students’ progress, and manages the learning environment.

• Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction
• Follow lesson plans as required by school policy
• Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the lesson plans
• Address the various learning styles of students accordingly
• Model correct use of spoken and written English language
• Demonstrate professional practices in teaching
• For long-term assignments, may be required to develop lesson plans; create, administer, and grade tests/assignments; participate in parent‑teacher conferences; and attend school related functions. Activities may occur outside of normal school hours.
• Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school, state, and all applicable laws and regulations
• Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and school property
• Remain in classroom and monitor students at all times
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the school personnel immediately
• May supervise students in out‑of‑class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
• Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate

• Short Term Assignment Sub Teacher: $18.67/hr if working less than 6.25 hrs a day. Otherwise, $140/day for a full day.
• Long Term Assignment Sub Teacher: $293.44/day
