Employment Type: Full Time Work Days: 10-month position
FSLA: Non-Exempt Reports to: Building Principal
Job Summary:
The 2nd Grade Teacher provides high-quality instruction that promotes student learning and development in alignment with the Illinois Learning Standards and district curriculum. The teacher establishes a positive and inclusive classroom environment, utilizes data-driven instruction, and collaborates with colleagues and families to ensure each student's academic and social success.
Education, Certification, and Licensure:
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related field (Master's degree preferred but not required).
- Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Elementary Education (K–9) endorsement.
- Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards and research-based instructional practices.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
- Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.
Experience:
- Prior successful teaching experience at the elementary level preferred.
- Experience designing lessons that support diverse learning needs and promote critical thinking.
- Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI) or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks.
- Experience integrating instructional technology to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff, families, and administration.
- EC-2 Certification
Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners.
- Implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that promote student engagement and mastery of grade-level standards.
- Utilize formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Integrate technology tools (such as Google Classroom, I-Ready, or Seesaw) to enhance learning and assessment.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to share student progress and encourage home-school partnerships.
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district professional development.
- Support the implementation of district initiatives related to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to use assessment data to plan, modify, and differentiate instruction.

Terms of Employment:
Salary is based on market comparisons as determined by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
Twelve-month work year.
Salary Range
$50,727 - $64,233
Salary is based on CBA Union negotiated terms
