No nights. No weekends. Every day something new.

Are you a childcare teacher who genuinely loves all the ages—the giggly infants, the curious toddlers, the imaginative preschoolers? Do you thrive when no two days look exactly the same?

We’re looking for a Part-Time Afternoon Floating Teacher who brings warmth, flexibility, and professionalism to wherever the school needs them most.

Hours

1:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Monday–Friday | No nights. No weekends.

Why This Role Is Different

Most childcare jobs put you in one room, with one age group, doing the same thing every day. This one doesn’t. As a Floating Teacher at The Goddard School of Ashland, you’ll move through our classrooms—infants, toddlers, preschool, pre-K, and sometimes our after-school program (K–3rd grade)—bringing your best to wherever it’s needed. For the right person, that’s not a limitation. It’s the best part of the job.

Why

Teachers Choose Goddard Ashland
  • You’ll work in a supportive environment where leadership is present and engaged
  • You’ll be valued as a professional—not just used as coverage
  • You’ll go home each afternoon knowing your presence truly made a difference
What the Afternoon Hours Look Like

The afternoon shift is its own world—outdoor play, creative exploration, snack and story time, and the warm wind-down before families arrive. Whether you’re supporting a toddler room, helping a preschool class finish a project, or greeting after-school kids with a smile, you’ll bring the same intentional, caring approach to every classroom you walk into.

Your Role as a Floating Teacher
  • Step into any classroom (infants through after-school age) with confidence and warmth
  • Support lead teachers in maintaining safe, nurturing, and engaging environments
  • Follow Goddard’s play-based curriculum and build genuine relationships with children of all ages
  • Serve as a reliable, calming presence that children and staff can count on
Benefits & Perks
  • Childcare discounts
  • Paid training and ongoing professional development (CEUs available)
  • Support for earning your CDA and advancing your career
  • Consistent afternoon schedule — no nights, no weekends
  • A school culture where part-time staff are genuinely valued team members
You’re a Great Fit If You
  • Have experience working with multiple age groups in a childcare or school setting
  • Are adaptable, calm under pressure, and quick to connect with children
  • Are dependable—the school counts on you to show up ready
  • Meet Virginia state licensing and background check requirements
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
