We are seeking part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors to teach Chemistry courses across a range of modalities including classroom, distance learning, and evening or weekend classes. The position may involve teaching at multiple campus sites.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a full range of Chemistry courses, including large classes and specialized topics.
  • Design, develop, and revise curriculum and course materials.
  • Utilize computer and multimedia technology to enhance instruction.
  • Participate in student recruitment, transfer articulation, and other departmental and college professional activities.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency and demonstrate sensitivity to a diverse student body.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in chemistry.
  • OR bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry
    * and* a master’s degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry.
  • OR possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Chemistry at the California Community College level.
  • OR equivalent credentials or demonstrated experience judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications. Submit an Application for Equivalence if applicable.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues and foster an innovative, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to engage students with varying skills, motivations, and goals.
  • Experience developing curriculum for multiple modes of delivery.
  • Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in maintaining subject‑matter currency and assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to employ new technologies that benefit the program.
  • Commitment to the California community college mission.
