About

The Role

This role is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis. Your contract will end 31st August 2028.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Student Mentoring Manager to lead the development and delivery of a high-quality, college-wide mentoring programme that supports student retention, engagement, achievement and progression.

This is a pivotal role responsible for shaping and embedding a structured mentoring framework, with peer mentoring at its core, alongside academic, transition and progression‑focused support. You will work collaboratively across curriculum and support services to ensure mentoring is impactful, inclusive and aligned with institutional priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage the Mentoring Programme – Provide operational leadership for a scalable, high‑impact mentoring offer across all college centres, ensuring consistent quality, effective coordination, and alignment with safeguarding and inclusion standards.
  • Develop and Deliver Peer Mentoring – Design and implement the college’s peer mentoring model, including recruitment, training, deployment and ongoing support of student mentors, ensuring strong engagement and positive outcomes for learners.
  • Drive Impact and Partnership Working – Develop targeted interventions and partnerships (with curriculum teams, employers and external organisations) to improve attendance, retention and progression, with a focus on priority learners and core subjects such as Maths and English.
About You

You will be a strategic and collaborative leader with a strong commitment to improving learner outcomes, able to build partnerships, influence stakeholders and champion mentoring as a key driver of student success.

You should bring:

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Confidence working with systems and processes.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Experience in a similar administrative/customer service/support‑based role is desirable.
About The Team

You will join a friendly, professional team committed to delivering high‑quality support across the college. Working together, you’ll help create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. You will be joining Learner Experience Directorate – a dynamic and supportive team who are committed to excellence. The team has a strong collaborative culture, sharing best practice and innovative approaches.
