Special Education Teacher
Brief Description of Essential Duties Under the supervision of the site administrator, provides an educational program for special education students encompassing basic skills and motivating students to develop the skills, attitude, and knowledge needed for a good educational foundation and prepares students as follows:
- Uses information about individual students' academic strengths, needs, and progress in planning
- Provide academic service to engage student in work aligned to the California Common Core Standards
- Uses resources that will promote high levels of learning and student engagement
- Follows established policies and procedures for reporting incidents (e.g., child abuse, bullying, harassment, and violence)
- Serves as a member of the Individual Education Program (IEP) team to support the identification, intervention, and education of students
- Implements student goals and modify lesson plans as established in the IEP and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree plus appropriate coursework to qualify for teaching credential
- Appropriate CA credential authorizing the teaching of students in special education (Ed Specialist Instruction with authorization for mild to moderate support needs (MMSN)) or equivalent with EL authorization
