• Master’s degree in any biological science
• OR Bachelor’s degree in any biological science and a Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
• Equivalent education or experience may be considered; submit the equivalency application form and supporting documents if applicable
• Degree must be earned from an accredited institution; foreign degrees must be evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds

• Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population
• Work effectively with students of varied skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals
• Develop curriculum, including delivery via multiple modalities
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Maintain subject‑matter currency
• Assess student learning outcomes
• Utilize computers and be willing to explore new technologies that benefit the program
• Commit to the mission of California community colleges
