A Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part‑time, hourly adjunct instructors in the Advanced Transportation Technology program. The starting salary is $65.00 per hour.
Representative DutiesThe successful applicant will provide instruction in a full range of Advanced Transportation Technology courses, and may teach at other campus sites, in day, evening, weekend, or distance learning settings, using multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include:
- Participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Career and Technical Education Department.
- Maintaining subject‑matter currency.
- Developing and revising curriculum.
- Using computer and multimedia technology.
- Collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of related industry experience, or
- Associate’s degree and six years of related industry experience, or
- Equivalents judged equal to the stated minimum qualifications.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Degree and credits from accredited institutions; foreign degrees evaluated by a credential‑evaluation service.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
- Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
