Job Overview

The Art Instructor will teach art courses in the Fine and Applied Arts department, developing and delivering curriculum for a diverse student population. The position is part‑time and hourly, and may involve teaching a range of modalities.

Responsibilities and Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
  • Work with students who have a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Use and explore new technologies that benefit the program.
  • Commit to the mission of California community colleges.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in fine arts, art, or art history; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a Master’s in humanities; or equivalent credentials.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
