Valley Charter Middle School (VCMS) seeks experienced, driven, creative team players who believe in a constructivist, project-based approach, backwards planning, and purposeful collaboration with colleagues. The VCMS science teacher will use the TCI "Bring Science Alive" curriculum as the foundation for lessons, labs, and activities and serve as an advisor to a group of students.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize VCMS-developed planning templates to develop and refine curriculum maps, culminating projects, rubrics, units, and lessons that meet the requirements of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
• Create a structured, positive classroom culture that is conducive to learning and promotes a sense of belonging for all students
• Establish positive, caring relationships with students and school stakeholders
• Design and deliver classroom instruction that is standards-based, purposeful, promotes critical thinking and student ownership, and embeds supports for learners at different levels and frequent checks for understanding
• Gather and use data to tailor instruction
• Participate in professional learning activities
• Demonstrate high levels of professionalism
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Desired Traits:

• 2+ years teaching in a public middle school setting is desirable
• Valid CA single science credential and EL authorization
