Child Development Center Supervisor

Under the direction of an assigned administrator, a Child Development Center Supervisor plans, develops, directs, and implements Child Development Center activities to meet the needs of the families served and the Child Development instructional program and its students.

There is currently one full-time (12 months/year, 40 hours/week) vacancy located at Oxnard College. This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Oxnard College was founded in 1975 and is the newest of the three community colleges in the county. Set on 118 acres and located two miles from Pacific Ocean beaches, the college is easily accessible by the Ventura Freeway (Highway 101) or the Pacific Coast Highway. Generally, new employees are placed on the first step of the appropriate range of the salary schedule.

Current Employees:
An employee who is promoted will be placed on the salary step of the new range of the appropriate salary schedule that provides a minimum increase comparable to a one-step increase in salary.

New and current employees may be eligible for advanced step placement as outlined in Section 290 – SALARY PLAN in the Rules of the Personnel Commission for Classified Employees (Download PDF reader).

This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Plan, develop, direct, and implement a program of activities that contributes to the care, growth, and development of infants, toddlers, and pre-school children, while promoting their growth and development and serving as a model for Child Development students that promotes growth and development of children.

Supervise Center personnel including student workers; recruit and select student workers; create and maintain staffing ratios according to regulatory agencies; maintain staff work records.

Recommend, maintain, and develop operating procedures according to applicable laws and regulations; update staff handbook in accordance with accreditation criteria, where applicable, and program guidelines.

Conduct audit activities in preparation for annual accreditation review by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) if applicable at the college.

Ensure maintenance of a physical environment to conform to applicable standards of health and safety; ensure compliance with State licensing regulations.

Process personnel clearances for fingerprints and child abuse index.

Establish and maintain enrollment and attendance records; enroll children and fill vacancies as necessary.

Determine fee structure for services; compute and distribute information regarding childcare fees; collect fees and record receipts.

Develop, analyze and monitor budget; maintain records of income and expenditures, and prepare related reports.

Ensure timely and informative communication between the Child Development Center staff, college faculty, parents, and others; initiate and prepare publicity and correspondence; plan and participate in Center, College, and related community events and meetings; attend parent/teacher…
