Location: Midland
Position Overview
Contract External – 0.5 OSL, OSL QUALS. Teacher – French or New‑Scottish Language (NSL) position. The role is on a 0.5 full‑time basis.
Eligibility & Application- Self‑identify with one of the four equity‑deserving groups under federal or provincial protected categories.
- Have five or more years of permanent‑contract teaching experience on another board, verifiable through resume and application.
- Effective instruction, training and evaluation of pupils in assigned subjects.
- Management of class(es) and reporting progress to the principal.
- Carry out supervisory duties and the instructional program as assigned by the principal.
- Ensure the classroom or teaching area is ready at least fifteen minutes before morning classes (five minutes before afternoon classes).
- Assist the principal in maintaining cooperation with the community and in regular meetings with parents or guardians.
- Prepare teaching plans and outlines required by the principal, submit on request.
- Implement reasonable safety procedures, establish consistent disciplinary practices with the principal and other teachers.
- Complete and process report cards in accordance with the provincial guides.
- Participate in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.
- Assist in the administration of co‑operative placements of pupils and perform duties related to graduation.
- Compliance with R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 298 – Operation of Schools Section 20 and related regulations.
- Adherence to Article
9.02 (vii)(a) regarding French or NSL teaching positions – a newly hired teacher in French or NSL may not apply for other postings for the portion of the contract that is French/NSL unless FTE is increased. - Submission of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and completion of mandatory training modules before the first day of employment.
