Position OverviewThe West Irondequoit Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for Special Education Teaching Assistant positions to support students across grades K-12. Teaching Assistants work under the general supervision of a certified teacher to provide instructional and student support.
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum of six (6) semester hours of college coursework in an area related to job responsibilities
- Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of children and adolescents
- Ability to work effectively with students requiring remediation and encouragement
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Candidates must hold (or be eligible for) one of the following:
- Level I, Level II, Level III, or Temporary New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate

Schedule:
$18.00 - $18.75 per hour
Job Description (per NYSUT) Definition
Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities- Work with individual students or small groups on instructional projects
- Provide teachers with information to support student learning and behavior planning
- Assist in the use and development of instructional materials
- Support instructional programs using specialized skills (e.g., languages, arts, music, crafts)
- Perform related instructional duties as assigned
- Assist students with specific health-related needs, as appropriate
