Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assessment Logistics, Scheduling & Organization
  • Independent Calendar Management: Maintain a highly organized, master schedule of evaluations across multiple district schools to ensure 100% compliance with strict state timeline mandates.
  • Campus Coordination: Proactively coordinate with school administrators, guidance counselors, and classroom teachers to schedule testing blocks that minimize disruption to the student's core academic instruction.
  • Tracking & Deadlines: Systematically track referral dates, parental consent windows, and statutory deadlines for both initial evaluations and three-year re-evaluations within the school year.
2. Targeted Student Observations & Psychological Collaboration
  • High-Detail Behavioral Observations: Conduct structured, objective clinical observations of students in various educational settings (e.g., direct instruction, independent work, unstructured settings).
  • Data-Rich Documentation: Record granular details regarding a student's attention-to-task, peer interactions, executive functioning, frustration tolerance, coping mechanisms, and response to environmental triggers.
  • Psychologist Partnership: Synthesize and deliver comprehensive observation notes and qualitative data directly to the School Psychologist to assist them in building a holistic psychological profile.
3. Testing, Evaluation & IEP Support
  • Administer, score, and interpret standardized academic achievement and diagnostic assessments.
  • Translate complex evaluation data into clear, parent-friendly language during multidisciplinary eligibility and IEP meetings.
  • Collaborate with IEP teams to recommend evidence-based instructional accommodations and interventions rooted in diagnostic findings.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced Organizational

    Skills:

Proven ability to manage a heavy, moving caseload, prioritize competing deadlines, and keep clean, systematic tracking files.
  • Analytical Observation: Skill in identifying and documenting subtle behavioral, emotional, and academic patterns that standard testing might miss.
  • Collaborative Communicator: Ability to write clear, highly descriptive, and objective reports that seamlessly integrate into a school psychologist's psychological evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education & Certification (Strict Requirement):
    • Must hold a valid State Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education, School Psychology, or a related diagnostic/instructional field.
    • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Educational Diagnostics, or Educational Psychology preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful special education classroom experience or educational assessment experience.
  • Travel & Mobility (Strict Requirement): Must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, and the absolute willingness to travel daily between multiple school buildings within the district to meet testing and observation needs.
  • Clearances: Must pass a standard Department of Education fingerprinting and background check.
