March 11, 2021 POSITION SUMMARY We anticipate hiring a.5 Music teacher. We're looking for a specific skill set for the intended structure of the program. A desired training/certification is in the Kodály method. If you have not completed training, the school will support your professional development in this area. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Develop a progressive music program that deepens musical understanding and scholarship throughout the grades (4-8).
• Instruct students in choral skills and performance.
• Instruct students in music reading and foundations of music theory.
• Instruct students in playing musical instruments including recorder (lower grades) and strings/percussion in upper grades.
• Develop a positive, inspiring rapport with students.
• Collaborate with staff on performances, festivals, and plays.
• Communicate with colleagues, parents and students on student progress.
• Manage a music department budget.
• Assist in maintenance of instruments including the identification of instruments in need of repair.
• Assist in ordering of equipment, instruments and materials necessary for the program.
• Support the well-being of all students and staff by maintaining a classroom that celebrates and honors the identity and diversity of each person.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution
• Valid California Music Teaching Credential (if credential is in progress, please inquire)
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
• Valid Driver's License NECESSARY MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with individuals with exceptional needs
• Experience working as a music teacher
• Training in Kodály method
• Ability to teach choir and instruments (recorder, strings, percussion).
