DefinitionProvides instructional coaching and professional learning in Structured Literacy aligned with the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) literacy initiative and the science of reading. Supports student achievement by building teacher capacity, delivering targeted literacy interventions, and promoting evidence-based instructional practices.
Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives general direction from the Principal or designee and collaborates with the Cultural Education Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide coaching and support to teachers in implementing Structured Literacy practices.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback cycles.
- Support alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and monitor growth.
- Collaborate with staff to implement school‑wide literacy goals.
- Deliver targeted literacy interventions.
- Support multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and collaboration.
- Maintain communication and records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Foster a culturally responsive learning environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required- Valid NM Teaching License (Level 2 or 3)
- Bachelor's degree in education and advanced coursework or professional development in the science of reading, multisensory language instruction
- Reading Endorsement or Certification or eligibility for a reading endorsement or certification
- Expertise in Structured Literacy
- Master's degree in a related education field (Educational Administration, Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, etc.)
- Certified Academic Language Therapist
Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. May require sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 20 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, and moving light furniture. Must be able to type on a keyboard terminal.
Work EnvironmentOn‑site attendance is mandatory. Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self‑motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After‑hour work may be required.

FundingThis position is funded through a grant and is subject to annual renewal. Continued employment is contingent upon available funding, and the position requires reapplication each year.
