Assistant Principal Position at Cavitt Junior High School
This is a 1.0 FTE Assistant Principal position at Cavitt Junior High School. Up to.4 FTE of this position will be supporting district programs and students outside of the assistant principal job description.
Job Description / Essential ElementsUnder the direction of the site principal, supports the principal in providing leadership at the school site by assisting in the maintenance of school operations.
Essential Functions:
- Receives, disseminates, and communicates information to enforce school, district, and state policies and procedures.
- Supervises instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall school objectives.
- Assists teachers in instructional improvement; allocates sufficient time for classroom observation.
- Directs teachers in the development and implementation of Educational Plans that focus on student needs.
- Conducts comprehensive and accurate evaluations of classified and teaching staff.
- Works with Principal to select personnel for the purpose of recommendation to the School Board for employment.
- Coordinates curriculum planning of teachers, keeps current with curriculum trends, and coordinates curriculum development in accordance with California State Standards.
- Assists the Principal in coordinating in-service programs for staff; links in-service programs to teacher needs.
- Establishes positive staff morale, stimulates staff professional growth, and recognizes outstanding accomplishments.
- Coordinates staff and works with Student Site Council in developing annual budget recommendations, carefully monitors school budget, and links expenditures to educational needs.
- Possesses knowledge of district and school policies, regulations, goals and objectives; adheres to same.
- Communicates professionally with parents, staff, community, District Administration, and School Board; interprets school programs to staff, parents, students, and community.
- Works with Principal to coordinate group testing in accordance with California State Standards, district policy, and school programs.
- Monitors upkeep of facilities and recommends capital improvements.
- Works with Principal to develop school goals in accordance with district goals, seeks staff and parent input regarding development of goals, and prepares written assessment of goals.
- Manages school administrative functions for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district and state guidelines.
- Promotes parent and community involvement in school, actively supports PTC & ESF, and is available to parents and community.
- Processes student disciplinary actions, personnel actions, and/or related matters for the purpose of documenting such actions and adhering to district policies and education code.
- Monitors upkeep of facilities; recommends and implements capital improvements; coordinates utility utilization.
- Possesses ability to read, understand, and carry out oral and written directions.
- Assists other personnel as required for the purpose of supporting them in their completion of work activities.
- Participates in workshops and attends college classes to keep up-to-date on changing methods and procedures in education.
- Attends required meetings called by Principal or district administrators.
- Actively participates in extra-curricular activities and supervises extra-curricular activities as assigned by administration.
- Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.

Salary Placement determined by verified years of relevant experience(s) in the administrative position as defined by the district in Administrative Regulation 4311:
