A Licensed Substitute replaces a licensed employee (teacher) in the event of his or her absence. Substitute jobs are in-person.
Requirements (must have)

A valid Colorado Substitute Authorization (1, 3 or 5-year) or Colorado Teaching License Apply for a CDE Substitute Authorization
* Provide three letters of recommendationas part of the licensed substitute hiring process.

• Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher
• Maintain the regular routine of the classroomwhenever possible
• Perform all of the duties of the classroom teacher, including covering extra classes if needed
• Responsible for the pupils, equipment, and materials assigned to them for the assignment(all materials and equipment borrowed must be returned to the proper authority before leaving campus)
• Leave a brief summary of the day's activities for the classroom teacher (summary may include behavior issues, special circumstances for the day, work that was done or not done during the day)

The 2026-27 Licensed Substitute School Year Pay:

$150.00 per day for full day assignments (4.51 hours or more)
$75.00

Schedule: Licensed substitutes can select when and where they would like to work (flexible schedule).
