Job Status: Part-time
The Kids Coordinator partners with the Kids Ministry Director to create safe, engaging, Christ-centered environments where children can know Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their faith. This role provides coordination and support for the Bayside Kids Nursery, serving children ages 8 weeks through 35 months, as well as the Children’s Ministry Program (CMP), which provides children’s ministry support for approved midweek ministries, classes, meetings, church gatherings, and special events.
The Coordinator supports volunteers, families, ministry leaders, and ministry environments while helping execute the vision of Bayside Kids with excellence.
- Coordinate and support the Bayside Kids Nursery for children ages 8 weeks through 35 months.
- Help create safe, clean, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environments for infants, toddlers, and young children.
- Assist with preparing and implementing curriculum, activities, supplies, and classroom materials.
- Ensure Nursery classrooms are prepared, organized, appropriately supplied, and ready for children and families.
- Assist families with check-in, classroom transitions, special accommodations, and other Nursery needs.
- Recruit, schedule, equip, and encourage Nursery volunteers.
- Help maintain appropriate volunteer coverage and child-to-leader ratios.
- Regularly evaluate the Nursery experience and recommend improvements to the Kids Ministry Director.
- Coordinate CMP support for approved midweek ministries, classes, groups, meetings, church gatherings, and special events.
- Partner with ministry leaders to determine program dates, attendance needs, age groups, classroom needs, volunteer requirements, and other details.
- Prepare curriculum, supplies, snacks, equipment, and classroom materials for scheduled programs.
- Reserve and prepare appropriate classrooms and ministry environments.
- Recruit, schedule, communicate with, and support volunteers serving in CMP environments.
- Maintain appropriate volunteer coverage and child-to-leader ratios.
- Communicate program expectations, procedures, and updates to ministry leaders, families, and volunteers.
- Be present for scheduled programs requiring children’s ministry support or ensure alternate coverage has been approved by the Kids Ministry Director.
- Evaluate CMP environments and processes and recommend improvements.
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, equip, and encourage volunteers serving in Nursery and CMP environments.
- Build healthy volunteer teams that are equipped, appreciated, and growing in their ability to serve.
- Provide encouragement and support to volunteers and help create a positive, team-oriented culture.
- Maintain consistent communication with volunteers regarding schedules, ministry expectations, events, and needs.
- Build relationships with families and serve as a welcoming, approachable resource for parents.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding ministry updates, events, and needs.
- Partner with ministry leaders to understand program needs and provide effective children’s ministry support.
- Help create ministry environments where children and families feel welcomed, cared for, and connected.
- Assist with planning calendars, scheduling, preparing materials, maintaining ministry supplies, and supporting ministry budgets.
- Maintain accurate volunteer schedules, attendance, check-in information, and ministry records as needed.
- Monitor classroom supplies, toys, equipment, and ministry resources and communicate purchasing or replacement needs.
- Help ensure safety, security, check-in procedures, and ministry policies are consistently followed.
- Assist with weekend services, special events, seasonal programming, and church-wide initiatives as directed.
