College Link Program Assistant Coordinator - Part-Time (ASC II)

This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position. The College Link Program (CLP) provides specialized support services, not covered by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The program helps students who have been diagnosed with ASD transition and succeed in the higher education environment by leveraging their individual strengths to facilitate academic and social success.

The CLP staff fosters student educational, career, social and independent living skills through creative and flexible approaches to individual needs.

This position involves coordinating aspects of the College Link Program. Under the guidance of the CLP Program Coordinator, this position coordinates CLP students' academic advising participation, social outings and volunteer days, coach training, and University Educational Plans (UEPs). Additionally, this position entails analyzing the operational effectiveness of CLP and developing changes in service delivery models to better meet programmatic goals.

Responsibilities

Support of Academic Advising

  • Support CLP students with their academic advising. Encourage CLP students to make appointments with their advisors each semester, make note of these appointments, provide reminders to students, and arrange for coaches to accompany students to meetings when needed.
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Academic Coaches, meet with each student to discuss key questions they should ask an adviser, documents they should request, and preferences/considerations they should mention to an adviser.
  • Maintain and analyze data related to students' estimated graduation dates. With the Program Coordinator, develop strategies and procedures to improve the program's 4-year graduation rate.

Coordination of Social Outings and Volunteer Days

  • Working closely with CLP Coordinator and coaches, coordinate social outings and on-campus activities for the students. Recruit student participation and coaches to support the event. Attend all events and track students' progress on UEP goals.
  • Coordinate CLP Volunteer days. This may include contacting local agencies, scheduling volunteer hours, recruiting student participation. Attend volunteer days and track student's progress on UEP goals.

Analysis and Development of the Program

  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, collect data evaluating the effectiveness of the College Link Program in supporting its students' graduation, retention, and skill development.
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator analyze the operational effectiveness of the program's services and individualized interventions for specific students.
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, develop changes to the College Link Program's service delivery models to allow the program to better achieve programmatic goals.
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, develop new individualized interventions to support students in reaching their UEP goals.

Coordination of UEPs and Administrative Projects

  • Review and edit End of Semester reports on students' progress in UEP goals as needed, and craft new UEP goals, in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement databases and tracking systems designed to monitor aspects of the program including: UEP trackers, assignment trackers, lab staffing lists, and students' schedules.
  • With the Program Coordinator, finalize End of Semester Reports (UEP progress and program engagement) to be shared with the California Department of Rehabilitation.
  • Support the Program Coordinator with developing other evaluations/ reports as needed for university and community stakeholders.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with scheduling academic coaches as needed.

Academic Coach Support

  • Develop training materials for academic coaches.
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, facilitate group debriefs and team training sessions.
  • Support Academic Coaches with writing progress reports when needed.
  • With the Program Coordinator, provide individualized support and guidance to coaches to facilitate their professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices.
  • An ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide internal-facing and external-facing services with a customer service mindset.
  • Knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages.
  • Ability to work independently in setting up events and supporting cultural programming.
  • These minimum qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
