Special Education Counselor / Part-time

Position:
Special Education Counselor

Education/Certification

Required:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in required field of study
  • Valid Texas School Counselor Certificate or Valid Texas License as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP)
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
  • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies including behavioral management
  • Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and implementation
  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures and education of special education students
  • Knowledge and experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and writing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures and data
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience

Experience working with students with behavioral and emotional needs.

Experience providing counseling as a related service for students served in Special Education.

Salary: Based on experience - Part Time Position
