Tenure-Track Faculty Position Announcement
The department of Accounting at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in the Nazarian College of Business and Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The new hire will primarily teach Taxation and related fields.
The successful candidate will have research interests in Taxation and related fields. The position requires an ongoing program of scholarship in Taxation and maintaining the criterion for "Scholarly Academic" under AACSB's accreditation requirement.
In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which they are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.
Required Qualifications:- (a) Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution. An A.B.D. will be considered, with a terminal degree completed by (August 20, 2027); (b) Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) in Taxation or a related field from an ABA-accredited institution; or (c) J.D. from an ABA-accredited institution, coupled with an LLM in Taxation from an ABA accredited institution or a Master's in Taxation (or Accounting) from an AACSB-accredited institution, along with a CPA credential or significant accounting work experience.
- Potential or evidence of excellence in university-level of in person and remote teaching modalities
- Potential or evidence of excellence in scholarship through publication in high-influence peer-reviewed academic journals
- Relevant prior professional work experience in the field, preferably in taxation
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed attorney or Enrolled Agent (EA) by the time of the appointment.
- Evidence of effective engagement or potential to engage with and mentor a diverse student body
- Teaching experience in the taxation field
- Experience creating a student-centered learning environment, including active and interactive learning
- Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy
