After School Mentor

Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the appropriate campus staff, Mentors provide academic support to middle and high school students in an after-school homework lab. Mentors assist students with a variety of subjects, encourage effective study habits, and provide a positive and supportive learning environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The position includes but is not limited to the following list of representative duties:
- Assist middle and high school students with homework and assignments across a variety of subjects.
- Provide support in areas including reading, writing, mathematics, and other academic subjects as needed.
- Help students develop effective study skills, organization, and learning strategies.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to students while promoting independence and responsibility for their learning.
- Use Google applications such as Docs, Sheets, and Forms as needed to support student learning and daily responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with students and campus staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Maintain a positive, patient, and respectful learning environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
- Part-time, Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day
- Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 3:15 pm - 7:00 pm
- Wednesday, Thursday: 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm

Qualifications:
- Energetic, dependable, and committed to student success.
- Proficiency in writing and mathematics.
- Comfortable using Google applications, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach effective study skills and techniques.
- Patient and able to work effectively with students of varying academic abilities.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college education or experience working with middle or high school students is preferred, but not required.
