About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Agricultural Extension Officer to serve the farming communities in and around Welkom . In this vital role, you will act as a liaison between agricultural research institutions and local farmers, disseminating crucial information on modern farming techniques, best practices, and available resources. Your work will directly contribute to improving agricultural productivity, sustainability, and the economic well-being of farmers in the Free State .

- Conduct farmer field days, workshops, and training sessions on topics such as crop management, soil fertility, and water conservation.
- Provide on-site technical assistance and guidance to farmers to address their specific challenges.
- Collect feedback from farmers on their needs and challenges to inform research and policy development.
- Promote the adoption of sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.
- Disseminate information on new technologies, government programs, and market opportunities.
- Maintain detailed records of activities, farmer interactions, and project outcomes.
- National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in agricultural extension, community development, or a similar field.
- Strong understanding of local farming systems, crops, and challenges in the Free State .
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a field-based environment.
