• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
• Bachelor's degree with specialization in Special Education;
  Master's preferred
• Thorough knowledge of applicable Washington State and Federal rules and regulations
• Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Ability to evaluate and write IEPs and familiarity with inclusion/mainstreaming essential
• Knowledge of Washington State education trends and the use of technology in the classroom
• Experience working with students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges
• Ability to provide a highly structured learning environment and work with a team
• Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and positive attitude required

As a pool posting for Special Education positions that may become available for the  school year, the teacher works as part of a Professional Learning Community team, provides instruction to special needs students in Resource Room, Life Skills, and Choices settings, develops and implements IEPs, supervises para educators, and is responsible for case management ensuring school success.
